Construction & Business Law are our passions

We take great care in making sure your goals are represented in everything we do for you. Whether we’re defending your case or pursuing a claim, we’re fighting for you.

“MY DAD WAS A CIVIL ENGINEER WHO WORKED IN CONSTRUCTION, SO I’VE BEEN AROUND IT MY WHOLE LIFE. WE TALK TO CONTRACTORS LIKE THEY’RE CONTRACTORS, NOT LIKE THEY’RE JUST ANOTHER LAW FIRM CLIENT” – PHIL

Truax Law Group - The BEST Construction Law Attorneys in Ohio office located in Avon, just 20 minutes west of Cleveland

We use that same philosophy for any small business, whether you work in construction or not. We take law terminology out of the equation and focus on getting to know you and your business. It’s important to all of us—as an extension of your team—to keep the lines of communication open, figuring out what is going to work best for you and your business. We push hard for your interests in any contract, deal, or conflict.

We care about how you feel about what we’re doing for you, so we’re intentional in the way we go about all construction matters and legal issues surrounding your business. We take our clients’ matters personally.

Our Core Beliefs

Open communication and passion for what we do is the foundation of Truax Law Group, and all of our values are driven by that.

Trust

We do what we say we’re going to do. We make sure we’re always following up with you openly and honestly. And that sincerity extends to how we represent you in mediations, in court, and in deals, as well as how we use your budget – not spending without reason.

Clarity

We don’t make assumptions when it comes to your business. Rather than go off a comment made in passing, we seek to get a full picture of your company to fully understand your specific situation. We need to be clear – both in how we communicate, and how we understand what you’re telling us.

Reliability

We have your back. We don’t take our responsibilities lightly. And we don’t pass the buck. Our purpose is to help you, and we’re firm on keeping that promise.

Tenacity

We’re determined, persistent, and relentless. We do everything we can so you come out of any unfavorable situation ahead of the pack and content with the results.

Strategy

We’re rational in our approach to law. Our engagement with you is strategically tailored to fit your goals. Working with us is about getting you and your business to a good place. It’s not—and never will be—about us. It’s about you.

Phil Truax - Construction Law Super Lawyer

Phil Truax

Founder

I grew up around bulldozers. Having a dad as a civil engineer and construction manager…  and working as a laborer and foreman for over 5 years while I was in college and law school, has given me a lifelong appreciation for the industry.

After law school, it was important to me to represent those contractors, subcontractors, and material suppliers that I worked with, and I’ve been doing that for 18+ years. I also work with business owners outside of the construction industry to mine opportunities, manage risks, pursue and defend claims, and protect the companies they’ve grown.

Robert J. Lally

Robert J. Lally

Attorney

In over 30 years of practice, I’ve learned to be result-oriented and to always keep the client’s goals in mind. I’ve focused my career on construction law, but I also have experience in business law, municipal liability defense, professional liability claims, and other areas.

During part of my career, I served as General Counsel of a major engineering/architecture firm in Cleveland.

Rest in Peace

We sadly lost Pat in 2024 when he peacefully passed away at the all-too-young age of 59.  Pat proudly worked with our small business clients on business transactions, real estate matters, nonprofit organizations, and estate and succession planning.

Pat will be forever missed by hundreds of friends in Greater Cleveland, but most of all by a family that he loved immeasurably, including his amazing wife, Susan, their four children and four grandchildren, his three brothers, and many more.

Sami Farhat

Sami Z. Farhat

Attorney

Coming from a community-driven, multicultural background, I’m always focused on openly communicating with our clients. I’ve been in construction and business law for the last 6 years, and I go into each engagement looking to blend my analytical approach with empathy for our client’s situation.

In my free time, I love spending time with my wife, our two kids, and attending as many Cleveland sporting events as I can fit into my schedule.

Angela Hare - Attorney Truax Law Group | Avon, OH

Angela Hare

Attorney

I have been an Ohio and Illinois attorney concentrating in commercial real estate law for over 5 years and working in the title insurance industry for over 10 years.  I enjoy handling business transactions outside of the real estate industry,  such as corporate transactions that allow me to assist business owners in properly structuring their contracts and protecting their assets.

I spent my college and law school years in Boston and Chicago; however, I grew up in Rocky River and currently live in Lakewood with my dog which is a Pomeranian-yorkie mix.

Heather Seel

Heather Seel

Paralegal

I thrive in situations where I can help people, so becoming a paralegal was always what I wanted to do. Over the last 25 years, I’ve enjoyed working with people and businesses to help them work through difficult situations.

When I’m away from work, I spend my time with family, especially my two kids. I’ve also spent several years coaching softball. Coaching has taught me not only how to be a team player but also to be mindful that every person brings their own value to the game.
