About Me

Christian Olaya combines courtroom experience with an engineer’s analytical mindset to protect and promote client interests.

At Truax Law Group, Christian focuses on construction and business disputes as part of our litigation team. He assists with research, motions, strategy, and other work to move cases forward.

Christian came to law after studying computer science at Washington University in St. Louis.

“I decided I want to go to law school because I want to solve people’s problems instead of computer problems,” he says.

After earning his law degree at the University of Pittsburgh, Christian worked as a legislative auditor for the State of Colorado. He later served as a workers’ compensation attorney. He then moved to Northeast Ohio and joined the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office.

While working for Cuyahoga County, Christian managed 15 to 20 active cases at a time while operating on 90-day timelines. Working on fast, high-stakes litigation taught him to think on his feet and keep a level head under pressure.

Get to Know Christian: A Quick Q&A

Where are you from originally?

I grew up in Pennington, New Jersey — a small, suburban town outside Trenton, near the center of the state.

When you’re not working, what do you do?

I like being outside in nature with my dog and my fiance, Kyle. We also enjoy the occasional Guardians game. I play in a couple of recreational sports leagues and am working on getting back into water polo. I’m a big fan of the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Holden Arboretum, and my local Avon Lake Public Library.

Who should call you?

Right now, I’m mainly focused on supporting our litigation team to help clients dealing with complex construction or business disputes. It’s my job to dig into the details and work hard for a good outcome. I also take on the occasional case independently.

When should they call you?

The earlier, the better. The sooner we understand a problem, the more options we have to solve it, or at least get into a better position, before it turns into a more expensive fight.
